NessFest – Physical theatre workshop

Physical theatre workshop

with Paul Andrew Goldsmith

Date: 27 October 2020
Time: 1.30pm – 2.45pm
Location: online workshop

Join Paul for this fantastic interactive physical theatre workshop to unlock your inner creativity. During the workshop we will go through physical theatre techniques including how we can use our bodies to tell stories, express emotion and create environments with or without dialogue. It will allow us to create interesting and exciting characters and instantly change from one to another allowing us to create one person shows.

We will look at devising techniques, some of these will be from the workshop I personally attended of National Theatre and Bristol Old Vic’s Sally Cookson the director of ‘A monster Calls’ amongst many others. This will allow participants to create their own stories, in whatever form they wish, even when isolated within their own four walls.

The workshop will offer a freedom to participants, to allow them there is no right or wrong way to truly express themselves and unlock their own creativity.

I believe that theatre and performance techniques can benefit anyone, from whatever walk of life they are in. Physical theatre allows us to create powerful and imaginative stories even without the access to lots of expensive props, costumes, tech etc and without the often high costs of joining a group. This style of performance also allows us to express our inner thoughts/feelings with or without the use of words.

The workshop will be followed up with some pre-recorded mini snippets demonstrating the techniques used within the workshop that can be used in any context.
